The Evening
Underland was House of Kaos' own descent down the rabbit hole — a night built on Alice in Wonderland, but tilted toward something stranger and a little more dangerous. Mad tea parties, riddling queens and a rabbit hole with teeth: familiar characters reimagined with the gothic edge House of Kaos brings to every night, staged in the striking surroundings of Newcastle Art Centre.
Guests arrived not as spectators but as fellow wanderers in a world where every corner held a character mid-story — the Cheshire Cat holding court, the Mad Hatter presiding from an ornate throne, and Wonderland's usual logic bent that little bit further out of shape.
A curiouser kind of wonderland — mad tea parties, riddling queens and a rabbit hole with teeth.
The Setting
Roses, fairy lights and gilded thrones set the scene for Underland's central court — equal parts tea party and coronation, with every detail chosen to tip the familiar Wonderland into something a little darker and more theatrical.

Why It Mattered
Underland marked House of Kaos' first turn toward a literary world rather than a purely gothic one — proof that the House's brand of immersive theatre can take on any story and still make it feel unmistakably its own. It's a direction we're excited to return to.
